The City of Concord has announced the closure of government offices on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of Thanksgiving. Various city services will have modified schedules during this period.
For solid waste services, there will be no collection for garbage, recycling, bulky waste, or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day. Residents with Thursday collections will experience a one-day delay. Collection crews will work on Friday to cover the routes missed due to the holiday. Residents are reminded to place their containers at the curb by 6 a.m. on collection days.
The city encourages residents to use resources like concordnc.gov/whatsmyday and the CARTology mobile app for updated collection schedules and notifications about changes. Information about loose leaf collection can be found at concordnc.gov/looseleaves.
In terms of parks and recreation facilities, the Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Multi-Purpose Recreation Centers will close on Thanksgiving Day but will operate from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday. The David Phillips Activity Center will remain closed both Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, ClearWater Arts Center & Studios will not open from Thursday through Saturday. Lake Fisher is scheduled to maintain its regular hours over the weekend: Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Rider Transit services will also pause operations on Thanksgiving Day with normal service resuming on Friday.
