The City of Concord has released its 2025 Recycling and Bulky Waste Collection Calendar online. The calendar outlines the blue and green recycling weeks and specifies city-observed holidays that will affect collection schedules, leading to a one-day delay for the rest of the week. It also provides guidance on proper recycling practices.
In 2024, the City of Concord Solid Waste Services Department monitored recycling contamination across neighborhoods. Findings revealed that plastic bags, Styrofoam, textiles, tanglers such as cords and rope, and garbage are the top contaminants in household recycling carts. These items are non-recyclable, and excessive contamination can result in truckloads being rejected at recycling centers and redirected to landfills. To address this issue, the calendar offers useful tips to assist residents in maintaining proper recycling habits.
Residents are encouraged to download the free CARTology app to access their collection schedule, set reminders, search for disposal instructions on various items, and receive notifications about any changes in collection schedules. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices and can also be accessed via the City’s website at concordnc.gov/whatsmyday.
The 2025 Recycling and Bulky Waste Calendar is accessible online at concordnc.gov/solidwaste. Residents unsure whether they are on a blue or green collection week can contact Customer Care at 704-920-5555 for assistance.
