The City of Concord has announced its holiday schedule and closures for the upcoming Christmas and New Year period. Government offices will be closed from Friday, December 23 through Tuesday, December 27, in observance of the Christmas holiday, as well as on Monday, January 2, 2023, for New Year's Day. Several city services will operate on modified schedules during this time.
For the week of December 26-31, garbage and recycling collection will experience a one-day delay following Christmas. Customers are advised to place bulk waste at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28. City crews will work through each day's route to collect all bulky waste by Friday, December 30. There will be no yard waste collection that week. Extra bags are permitted outside customer trash carts from December 27 through January 6.
In the week of January 2-6, garbage and recycling collection returns to a normal schedule. Bulk and yard waste services will follow a condensed holiday schedule starting Tuesday, January 3. Customers should have materials at the curb by 6:00 a.m., with all collections completed by Friday, January 6. Live Christmas trees can be placed curbside with regular yard waste if stands, lights, and ornaments are removed.
Rider Transit buses will not operate on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
City parks and greenways remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., while recreation centers have specific hours during the holidays:
- Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Multi-Purpose Recreation Centers are open from Noon to 6:00 p.m. on December 23, December 26-27, and January 2; regular hours from Noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
- The David Phillips Activity Center is closed from December 23-27 and again on December 31 and January 2.
- Lake Fisher is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve but closed on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
