The City of Concord has announced its schedule and closures for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Government offices will not be operational on Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25.
For garbage, recycling, bulky waste, yard waste, and loose-leaf collection, adjustments have been made. Residents must place bulky waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday, November 21. Garbage and recycling services scheduled for Thursday will be delayed to Friday, while Friday's collections will occur on Saturday. Yard waste and loose-leaf collection will not be scheduled during the week of November 21-25; however, the city plans to complete loose-leaf collection for Friday’s route by Wednesday, November 23.
Residents are encouraged to use online resources such as concordnc.gov/whatsmyday or the CARTology app for scheduling verification and alerts. The concordnc.gov/looseleaves website provides updates on loose-leaf collection tracking.
Rider Transit services will pause operations on Thanksgiving Day but will resume normal schedules on Friday, November 25.
Recreation centers including The Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Multi-Purpose Centers will close on Thursday but open with modified hours from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday. The David Phillips Activity Center will remain closed both days. Parks and greenways in Concord will stay accessible throughout the holiday period.
