If you've spent time in Charlotte, North Carolina, you might already appreciate the appeal of road trips through the Carolinas' small towns. The region is dotted with quaint towns and cities that even locals may not have fully explored.
Recently, two of these towns—Concord in North Carolina and Greenville in South Carolina—were featured on HGTV's list of the 30 most charming downtowns in America. This prompted a survey to discover other beloved small-town downtowns in North and South Carolina. Over 200 responses were received, highlighting various favorites that, while not all small, possess undeniable charm.
Among these recommendations is Concord, located just 26 miles from Charlotte. Visitors can enjoy a day exploring its downtown for less than $50. A suggested itinerary includes an exhilarating tour at Charlotte Motor Speedway before heading into town to browse shops and enjoy refreshments like a latte at Press & Porter or beer and nachos at Little Robert’s Place.
