The City of Concord has announced that government offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. This closure will affect several city services, which will operate on modified schedules.

Garbage, recycling, bulky, and yard waste collection services will not occur on July 4. These services will experience a one-day delay throughout the week. Specifically, garbage and recycling collections scheduled for Friday will take place on Saturday, July 9. Bulky waste collection routes for Thursday and Friday will be combined and completed on Friday, July 8.

Yard waste should be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5. Crews will start with Monday's route area and continue through the week to ensure all yard waste is collected by Friday, July 8.

Residents are reminded to place their garbage, recycling, bulky items, and yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on their designated collection day to ensure pickup. It is recommended to set out items after 5 p.m. the night before collection day. For schedule verification, residents can visit concordnc.gov/whatsmyday or use the CARTology mobile app.

Rider Transit services will also be suspended on Monday with regular operations resuming Tuesday.

City parks and greenways remain open as usual during the holiday period. However, the Academy and Hartsell Recreation Centers along with the Logan Multi-Purpose Center will have limited hours from noon to 6 p.m., while the David Phillips Activity Center will not open on Independence Day.
