The City of Concord has been recognized for its communication and marketing efforts at the North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) 2022 Excellence in Communications Awards. The city received first place in the website category for its redesigned official website, www.concordnc.gov, and second place in graphic design for a campaign focused on public power.
Concord's achievements were part of a total of 111 entries judged by professional peers from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators. Among 21 municipalities across North Carolina, Concord stood out with these honors.
“These awards are the result of collaboration spearheaded by our Public Affairs Team and all of Team Concord,” stated City Manager Lloyd Payne. “We strive daily to keep our employees and the public informed about the great work going on in our community. I am proud of our team, their incredible work, and their continual pursuit of innovative ways to communicate with our city.”
The redesigned website was launched in March 2021, aiming to better serve Concord’s growing population. It is now mobile-friendly and includes Google Translate, providing a more accessible experience. The streamlined design led to significant reductions in both session duration and page sessions compared to the previous version.
Additionally, Concord secured second place in graphic design with its People Behind Public Power campaign during Public Power Week. This initiative highlighted employees within the Electric Systems Department through compelling graphics that celebrated those responsible for providing reliable power.
In another category, Concord shared second place honors with Cabarrus County, the City of Kannapolis, and the Town of Harrisburg for CARTology. This tool helps residents manage garbage and recycling schedules through web-based resources.
