On December 20, the City of Concord delivered over two tons of essential supplies to the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry in Arden, North Carolina. These supplies were gathered by city employees through a month-long donation drive aimed at supporting Western North Carolina families as they recover from Hurricane Helene.

In response to Hurricane Helene, more than 65 employees from Concord's Aviation, Electric Systems, Fire, and Police departments were deployed to assist recovery efforts in various areas including Forest City, Black Mountain, Asheville, Ashe County, and Rutherford County. The city's airport team played a crucial role by setting up an operational base for Operation Air Drop at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport. This effort facilitated the movement of over one million pounds of supplies via air and truck.

Although not all members of Team Concord could participate directly in mountain deployments or airport assistance, their desire to contribute led to the initiation of a donation drive. Throughout November, city employees donated items such as diapers, formula, toiletries, pet food, winter weather supplies, and non-perishable food. A total of 4,624 pounds of supplies were collected with help from the Buildings & Grounds and Warehouse teams who managed collection and storage. The Fire Department then transported these donations to Arden.

Team Concord remains committed to providing excellent service beyond its city limits. Driven by shared values of compassion and service to others, Team Concord continues its support for neighbors in Western North Carolina.
