The City of Concord recently received an additional $604,865 in federal CARES Act funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The additional funding was approved by HUD in September, Concord city officials said in an October release. The funds can go toward uses, including housing rehabilitation, economic development and mortgage and rental assistance.
The money can also be used to assist in covering the costs of public service agencies that offer direct assistance to community members struggling with the economic crisis created by COVID-19 restrictions or other hardships related to the pandemic, city officials said in the release.
Concord sought initial input on prioritizing the use of the funds through an online survey, but community members can also send comments to Pepper Bego, federal programs coordinator, at begop@concordnc.gov or 704-920-5133, according to the post.
The city has also created an online presentation regarding the funds that can be viewed on YouTube.
