The City of Concord has announced the closure of its government offices on Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day. The holiday will affect several city services, which will operate on adjusted schedules.
Garbage and recycling collection services will not be available on Memorial Day. As a result, there will be a one-day delay for these services throughout the week. Customers whose regular collection day is Friday will have their waste collected on Saturday, June 3.
For yard and bulky waste, residents are advised to place items at the curb by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30. Crews will begin with collections from Monday's route area and continue through each day's schedule to ensure all waste is collected by Friday, June 2.
Rider Transit buses will also not operate on Monday due to the holiday closure. Normal operations are set to resume on Tuesday, May 30.
Parks and Recreation facilities have modified hours for Memorial Day as well. The Academy and Hartsell Recreation Centers along with the Logan Multi-Purpose Center will open from noon until 6 p.m., while the David Phillips Activity Center and Lake Fisher will remain closed. However, all city parks and greenways are scheduled to remain open.
