The City of Concord has announced the appointment of Michael Hausler as its first Information Technology Director, effective May 1, 2023. Hausler brings 26 years of experience in information technology to this new role. He will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership as Concord transitions its IT services and resources in-house after decades of relying on contracted services.
City Manager Lloyd Payne expressed his enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, “I am excited to welcome Michael to Team Concord. His extensive knowledge of information technology in the public and private sectors will be immensely beneficial to the city as we build our first internal IT Department.”
Hausler's background includes a wide range of IT disciplines such as database management, server administration, and infrastructure oversight. He has previously held IT Director positions at Flathead County, Montana, and Helena College University of Montana.
In response to his new position, Hausler said, “I am very excited to start this role and it is an honor to have been selected as the first city-employed IT Director for Concord. I will be coming into this position with my eyes and ears open, with a laser focus towards developing customer-centricity, and also providing both security and integrity of our city systems and data.”
His previous roles involved overseeing strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, project management for application development, GIS operations, and enterprise infrastructure. In Concord, he will provide similar leadership while collaborating with city leaders to develop IT policies that support workforce growth, enhance customer service capabilities, and protect critical resources.
Hausler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Technology from Northern Arizona University. Originally from Montana where he spent most of his life before moving to North Carolina in 2022 with his wife Shannon. The couple enjoys outdoor activities along with their four children and five grandchildren.
