Applications for the City of Concord's External Agency Funding are now open. Each year, the city provides funding to non-governmental organizations, referred to as "External Agencies," that enhance the city's cultural, social, and economic vitality. Interested organizations must submit their requests by March 17, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., using the Neighborly link on the city's website at concordnc.gov/external-agency.

Recipients and sub-recipients of city funding are required to report agency or program outcomes through performance measures in addition to financial reporting. Funding agreements include a performance component to assess the outcomes of the funded agency or program. These performance measures will be developed with city staff upon any funding approval by City Council.

A budget hearing for all external agency requests is scheduled for early April. This brief hearing allows organizations to present their requests and enables the Mayor and City Council Members to ask questions. Applicants must demonstrate how their request aligns with a municipal public purpose and whether it supports an existing service or fills a gap. The hearing will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 35 Cabarrus Ave. W. in Concord. The city will send an email notification once the date and time are confirmed.

For further information, visit concordnc.gov/external-agency or contact Brandon Edwards, Senior Budget Analyst, Finance Department at (704) 920-6263.
