Local artist Francene V. Greene has joined the team working with the City of Concord to create a Public Art Master Plan. Greene, a resident of Concord, will take on the role of Artist Facilitator, focusing on community participation and collaboration during the planning process.
Greene brings nearly two decades of experience in nursing and community health to this project. She is both a psychiatric-mental health nurse and a mixed-media artist, operating her studio, Cre8tive Sanctum, at ClearWater Arts Center & Studios.
In her new role, Greene will collaborate with public art consultants Todd Bressi and Amina Cooper. Her responsibilities include raising awareness about public art planning activities and facilitating opportunities for community input. Plans are in motion to organize informational events in partnership with various community organizations in Concord. During these events, Greene will lead arts and cultural activities that are free and open to the public.
The city encourages residents to contribute their ideas for public art through an online survey available at publicinput.com/ConcordArtPlan until May 13, 2022.
Further details about the Public Art Master Plan can be found on the city's website at concordnc.gov/publicart.
