The City of Concord is participating in the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Mobi Awards with two projects: the Hector H. Henry Greenway-Riverwalk and the Spring Street Mini Roundabout Teardrop. The public is invited to cast their votes daily until February 25, aiming for the city to secure the Most Valued/Voted Project award.
The NCDOT Mobi Awards honor multimodal transportation projects that contribute to vibrant communities. These projects involve at least two modes of transportation, such as bicycle, pedestrian, highways, and public transit. Concord's nominated projects meet these criteria.
The Hector H. Henry Greenway-Riverwalk provides pedestrian and bicycle access to various neighborhoods, parks, public transport facilities, shops, restaurants, hotels, and connects to Carl Furr Elementary School. It is a well-used greenway in the city. Supporters can participate by taking a virtual walk through the greenway and voting daily at https://bit.ly/351nhNc.
The Spring Street Mini Roundabout Teardrop also competes for a Mobi Award. This project enhances pedestrian safety in its area and improves traffic flow. Daily votes for this project can be cast at https://bit.ly/355PYZf.
