The City of Concord was recently honored with the Destination Visionary Award by the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) during their annual Celebrate Cabarrus and Golden Helmet Awards event. City of Concord Mayor Pro Tem Terry Crawford, and City Manager Lloyd Payne, accepted the award on behalf of Council and the city.
Gayle Love Lee, Cabarrus CVB Senior Vice President of Partnership and Visitor Services, presented the award to the City of Concord and commended the city for its efforts in managing growth and maintaining its unique character. Lee highlighted Concord's achievements, stating, "As the county seat, the City of Concord has long been a hub of activity in Cabarrus County. While the area has evolved over the years, city leaders continue to thoughtfully manage its explosive growth."
Lee further praised Concord for its accolades, such as being named one of the safest cities in North Carolina and making the list of the nation’s top boomtowns. She also noted the ongoing transformation projects in the city, including the new Union Streetscape and the installation of public art, parks, and greenways, which aim to enhance the experience for visitors and residents alike.
The City of Concord's blending of history and progress was also recognized, with Lee acknowledging their efforts in maintaining the small-town feel while introducing new experiences and economic opportunities.
