Detective Sergeant Tucker holds an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Stanly Community College and has earned the Advanced Law Enforcement certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. She has also completed more than 1,400 hours of training during her career.

Her community service previously earned her the community nominated "Everyday Hero" award from the Officer Jeff Shelton Foundation in 2016, and she was named "Hometown Hero" of the year for 2021 by the Joe Maus Automotive Group.
In Detective Sergeant Tucker's appointment address, Chief Shew noted that in addition to the training requirements for the rank, as an investigator Detective Sergeant Tucker's high standard of organization, meticulousness, and attention to detail was at the level of veteran elite investigators. Brittany's stellar history with the department, training accomplishments, and her performance in investigative matters regardless of their size, scope, and severity had demonstrated her immense capabilities and worthiness of a leadership position with the Locust Police Department.
