In a nod to social distancing and concern for public health and safety during the COVID-19 crisis, the Harrisburg Town Council and the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners are holding virtual meetings for the foreseeable future.
The governmental bodies use the Zoom video conferencing app, which allows residents to participate in using a phone or video.
The Town Council’s first virtual meeting was a workshop on April 7. The regular meeting slated for April 13 will also be held virtually. Residents will have the opportunity to participate in the public comment and public hearing portions of the Town Council meeting, according to the Independent Tribune.
The Board of Commissioners conducted its April 6 work session through virtual means. A notice from Cabarrus County explained that the remote meeting was permitted by the board’s remote participation policy during this state of emergency.
