The Northwest region of Concord is experiencing rapid growth, yet it remains underserved in terms of public parks and recreational facilities. In response, the City Council has prioritized the establishment of a community park in this area. The Parks and Recreation Department is now inviting public input on two design concepts for the proposed park.

In 2020, the department engaged architectural firm Woolpert to develop a master plan for the park. The planned location is on Cox Mill Road, near Cox Mill Elementary School and opposite Cox Mill High School.

During the initial assessment phase, city staff collaborated with Woolpert to gather community feedback through an online survey, a workshop, and several meetings with focus groups and stakeholders. This process yielded over 1,000 responses and 500 written comments from residents, informing two design concepts that are now open for further public review.

The city encourages residents to visit the project's website to examine these concepts and participate in a brief survey by March 31, 2021. Feedback will be instrumental in shaping the final master plan for the Northwest park.

For more information about the project or to provide input, citizens can contact Park Planner Jason Pauling at 704-920-5641 or paulingj@concordnc.gov.
