The City of Concord will start its annual loose leaf collection on Monday, November 1. This service will continue until February 25, allowing residents to place un-bagged leaves at the curb for pickup during their designated week.
The collection will not occur on city-observed holidays such as Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving (November 22-26), Christmas (December 20-24), and Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday (January 17).
Residents are reminded of several guidelines: "Leaves must be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on the first day of their collection week," "Leaves must be free of tree/shrub limbs or foreign objects," and "Leaves must be kept away from storm drains, mailboxes, and parked cars."
For those who prefer, bagged leaves can also be collected weekly during regular garbage collection. The bags should be untied, clear plastic or biodegradable paper bags weighing less than 35 pounds each.
The city provides resources for residents to manage their leaf collection schedules. They can view, download, and print the 2021-2022 Loose Leaf Collection Schedule from concordnc.gov/looseleafcollection. Additionally, residents can track the status of loose leaf collection in their area through an online tracker or by using the CARTology app available in Apple and Google Play stores.
