Concord honors employees for over 1,800 combined service years

City leaders in Concord recently held a ceremony to honor 155 employees for their combined 1,865 years of service. The annual Service Awards event recognizes employees who have served the city for at least five years, with awards given in five-year increments. This year, some employees reached a milestone of 35 years.

During the ceremony, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Hubbard and City Manager Lloyd Payne expressed gratitude to the employees for their dedication and hard work. Their efforts contributed to the city receiving the Leading the Way Award from the ETC Institute, which acknowledges exceptional service delivery and places Concord among the top 10% of local municipalities in the U.S.

Employees from various departments were recognized at the event:

In Aviation, Charles Correll and Brooke Nance marked five years; Brad Faggart celebrated 15 years; Tony Emerson completed 20 years.

The Buildings & Grounds department saw Stephanie Cokeley, Petit Colas, and Pedro Sandoval reach five years; Susan Sessler ten years; Robert Cromer fifteen years; Brian Stancil twenty-five years.

Communications staff included Shannon Stevens with five years; Erin Broadway with ten; Matthew Lowery and Lisa Blackwell both reaching fifteen; Constance Hicks marking twenty.

Electric Systems recognized William Smith and Jonathan Cruse at five years each; Caleb Greene and Jennifer Volpicelli at ten each; Crystal Howell at twenty; Billy Robins at twenty-five; Ty Barbee achieved thirty-five.

Engineering had Timothy Emrich at five years; David Medlin, Brandy Colon, and Jeffrey Childers all at fifteen.

Finance department members included Michelle Freeland, Heather Gadd, Christopher Hagler each at five years; Ann Baldwin, Kevin Finch, Jennifer Hargett, Peggy Baxter, Heather Marek all reached ten. Angela Britt marked fifteen while Keith Karriker completed thirty.

Firefighters honored were Jason Allen through Chase Sharpe each completing five years. Ten-year honorees included Samuel Eudy through Collin Wilson. Fifteen-year milestones were reached by Sonya Bost through Derek Porter. Jeremy Burris celebrated twenty while Bret Leonard through Patrick Tierney marked twenty-five.

Fleet Services recognized Robert Burrage with five years and Michael Bullard with twenty-five.

Housing's Dino Miller completed twenty while Human Resources' Kimberly Wynn marked five.

Legal's Tinisha St. Brice was acknowledged for five as well as Parks and Recreation's Michael Jones through Regina Callaway. Sarah Gay along with Melissa Archer both reached ten while Martha Hagood celebrated twenty-five.

Planning and Neighborhood Development honored Kaylee Caton through Mary Powell-Carr for reaching five-year milestones while Steven Osborne celebrated thirty-five.

Police Department honorees included Katie Congel through Cuyler Slocum each marking five-years service while Adam Bost through Collin Wilson achieved ten. Martin Barnhardt through Janet Wilkerson celebrated fifteen. Matthew Grier through Dustin Page marked twenty while Ytalo Delgado through Patrick Tierney celebrated twenty-five.

Rider Transit's Jaime Tippett Poe completed five alongside Solid Waste Services' Demarques Andrews through Sandra Franklin also marking this milestone while Timothy Kelly along with Angelo Luckey achieved fifteen. Valerie Proper along with Michael Rush celebrated their respective twenty-fifth anniversaries within Solid Waste Services too!

Transportation department's Jamie Williams alongside Jonathan Williams marked their fifth anniversaries similarly followed closely behind by Austin Reece likewise Floyd Price eventually Anthony Martin soon thereafter Phillip Graham rounding off those celebrating fifteenth anniversary dates respectively

Water Resources recognized Anthony Allman alongside James Coble completing fifth anniversary celebrations meanwhile Christian Hunt joined Austin Painter ultimately David Perez finishing similar timelines accordingly until Tonia Shupe concluded Joshua Treadway finally rounded out David White hitting similar markers altogether! Jeremy James followed Steven Rummage commemorating tenth anniversaries jointly before Leslie Benson unitedly joined Crystal Scheip crossing fifteenth thresholds alike Patricia McDonough furthered Eric Miller simultaneously Gregory Spears surpassed Hoyle Rayfield topping twentieth landmarks additionally Steven Bowers ultimately Joseph Burleson achieving notable silver jubilee achievements equivalently until Timothy Newton capped off Rebecca Shue concluded her significant silver jubilee tenure triumphantly!
