City of Concord government offices will be closed on Friday, March 29, for Good Friday, as announced by city officials. The annual Bunny Run 5K & Festival is set to return to Downtown Concord on Saturday, March 30, with a series of activities planned for the community.
The event will commence with a free one-mile fun run at 8:30 a.m., followed by festival activities along McCachern Boulevard starting at 9 a.m. According to the City of Concord, McCachern Boulevard will be closed to through traffic during the event, with lane closures in effect on Union Street South and Corban Avenue to facilitate the Bunny Run 5K race route.
In addition to the closures and event schedule, the City of Concord has outlined the holiday schedule for city services during this period. Garbage, recycling, bulky, and yard waste collection will operate on a regular schedule, while Rider Transit and city recreation centers will also maintain their usual hours of operation.
Moreover, ClearWater Arts Center & Studios and Lake Fisher will have adjusted hours on Friday to accommodate the holiday closures. The David Phillips Activity Center will be closed, but other facilities will be open for limited hours.
For those interested in participating in the Bunny Run 5K, there is still time to register for the event. Online registration is available until Saturday, with in-person registration opportunities available on the day of the race. The festival, scheduled from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, promises a range of activities for attendees to enjoy.
During the festival, McCachern Boulevard will be transformed into a lively space featuring inflatables, face painting, a balloon artist, kids’ crafts, cotton candy, food trucks, music, and dancing with the Easter Bunny. To facilitate the event and ensure the safety of participants and spectators, road closures will be implemented starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 30. Motorists are advised of the closures on McCachern Boulevard between Cabarrus Avenue and Corban Avenue, as well as on Union Street and Corban Avenue to accommodate the 5K race route.
