The City of Concord has announced the appointment of Jaime Brown as its new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Strategist. Brown's role will involve collaborating with city leadership and community partners to develop and implement initiatives that promote inclusivity and belonging in Concord.
City Manager Lloyd Payne expressed enthusiasm about Brown's addition to the team, stating, "I’m excited to have Jaime join Team Concord; her consulting and academic work experiences will play a critical role in enhancing our internal and external efforts to create a community where all people can prosper."
In her own words, Brown shared her excitement about the opportunity, highlighting her goal to enhance the employee experience through DEI initiatives. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that individuals are valued and heard in the workplace, expressing her commitment to making a positive impact on the community and its stakeholders.
Apart from internal employee DEI programs and training, Brown will also serve as the liaison to the Concord United Committee, which focuses on addressing racial inequities within city departments, programs, policies, and procedures. Her role will involve facilitating the Committee's ongoing efforts to promote equity and inclusion in Concord.
Originally from New Jersey, Brown currently resides in Cabarrus County with her family. She brings a wealth of experience from her background as a DEI/Employee Experience Consultant and Adjunct Instructor, where she taught courses on personal branding and professional discernment at Georgetown University.
Brown's educational accomplishments include a Master's degree from New York University and a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. Additionally, she is a certified yoga instructor with a trauma-informed certification, demonstrating her commitment to holistic well-being.
