Kannapolis is accepting bids for an Oak Avenue property that includes five spaces that could become new offices or commercial areas, WBTV reported.
The property lies on .56 acres and has approximately 11,000 square feet, WBTV reported on Sept. 4. The city has a bid of $700,000 for the property, which has two tenants — one that is a Pizza Hut.
Prospective bidders have until Sept. 14 to place bids on the property. WBTV noted that if an offer of at least $735,050 is submitted, it will upset the current bid and the bidding process will continue until there are no more valid upset bids.
The city purchased the property in 2015 when it was working on the Downtown Revitalization Project — at that point in time he had more than 50 acres of land and property downtown that started with the West Avenue infrastructure that was completed last October and ended with Atrium Health Ballpark, which opened in April.
