Kannapolis has popped a cool new $68 million investment that will add hundreds of jobs to North Carolina, WBTV reported.
Prime Beverage establish a manufacturing plant at 1859 Kannapolis Parkway, WBTV reported on June 9. The company will invest $68 million to build a state-of-the-art, high-speed plant that can fill up to 1,500 cans per minute.
Prime Beverage contracts with brand-name beverage companies to mix and package their canned drinks, the state said.
“Companies of all kinds find North Carolina the ideal location to innovate new products and serve new markets,” Gov. Roy Cooper said in a statement, WBTV reported. “Prime Beverage Group’s choice of our state showcases our readiness to overcome the impact of the pandemic and move our economy forward.”
The plant will employ 231 people, WBTV reported. The Kannapolis City Council and Cabarrus County Commission have approved performance-based economic development grants totaling $2.5 million over five years.
“The decision to locate here in Cabarrus County is a reflection of the community of Kannapolis and the workforce that lives here and in the surrounding communities,” Prime Beverage CEO Jeremy Lantz said in a statement, WBTV reported.
