The Stanly County School Board gave the green light to two roofing repair bids at its April 7 meeting.
The board approved the bids, which are worth a combined $262,288 after trustee Anthony Graves presented a report from the facilities committee, The Stanly News & Press reported on April 8.
The first bid is for $82,211 for roofing work to be completed at Stanfield Elementary School. The second bid is for North Stanly Middle School with a $180,077 price tag. According to The Stanly News & Press, $100,000 is drawn from the capital fund balance.
A likelihood of the capital expenditures part of the budget emptying and leaving some money to be funded prompted the allocation from the capital fund, Graves said, according to the report. He also provided an update on the county office’s COVID-19 response.
According to Graves, several steps have been taken to stop the spread of the disease, including social distancing and disinfecting the meeting room.
