City Council meetings with Marion, VA, and Spartanburg, SC, to discuss the impact of Pfeiffer University

Introduction: As we prepare for the arrival of Pfeiffer in our downtown, City Council will host a web conference with representatives from Marion, VA, and Spartanburg, SC, to discuss their experience with colleges in their downtowns.
At 11:00AM on September 30th, City Council will host a audio conference with the Economic Development Director from Marion, VA to discuss Marion’s experience when Emory & Henry College School Of Health Sciences which opened in 2014.
At 1:30PM on September 30th, City Council will host a web conference with representatives from Spartanburg, SC to discuss their experience with colleges in their downtown. Spartanburg is a major center for higher education, with seven colleges and universities that are a major economic driver for the City and larger region. This meeting serves as a follow-up to the meeting on August 19 when City Council invited the community to express concerns, questions and ideas about the arrival of Pfeiffer University’s new graduate campus in downtown Albemarle.
