Locust Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 27.

Locust and Stanly County are still considered in the “Zone of Uncertainty” for snowfall. Whatever occurs will be in afternoon to evening.

Travel planning and precaution should still be considered during this period. Multiple Locust officers remember a snow event 12 years ago that occurred around this same time of year in the end of work day commuting time period where heavy snowfall occurred and came quickly resulting in numerous vehicle crashes in Locust in a very short time period.
