The Concord Police Department held a ceremony at City Hall on October 23 to recognize the promotion of nine officers and welcome six new officers to its ranks.
Police Chief Jimmy Hughes highlighted the importance of family support for law enforcement professionals. “Behind every officer is a family that stands in service with them,” said Chief Hughes. “The family’s love, patience, and support is what makes this profession possible, and we are deeply grateful for that.”
Mayor Pro-Tem Andy Langford also spoke at the event, expressing appreciation for the dedication of Concord police officers before administering their oaths of office.
The six new officers joining the department are Johnathon Morris, Logan Seiler, Jacob Roth, Matthew Eudy, Hunter Collier, and Jadon Brown. Five of these officers have previous law enforcement experience from agencies across North Carolina, while one recently completed Basic Law Enforcement Training.
Cydney McGhee and John Parker were promoted to Major. McGhee has been with the department since 2005 and will now lead the Operations Bureau. Parker joined in 2004 and will head the Patrol Bureau after serving in various roles including Watch Commander and leading training initiatives.
Joshua Shaver, Caleb Garrow, and Gary Mearite were promoted to Lieutenant. Their backgrounds include assignments in patrol divisions, specialized units such as SWAT and Vice & Narcotics, school resource officer duties, crisis negotiation, drug investigations with multiple agencies, and recognition for their work on crime units.
