The City of Concord Fire Department announced on April 24 that it will conduct a series of training exercises at the city’s water tower on Highway 73 near Kirkwood Drive. The first exercise is set for Monday, April 27, from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with additional sessions planned throughout the spring.
These exercises are part of the department’s annual Technical Rescue Training Plan and aim to help firefighters improve their rope and high angle rescue skills. According to officials, most activities will take place inside the water tower, but if time and weather allow, fire crews may also perform an outdoor rescue simulation using rope systems to lower a simulated victim from the top or side of the structure.
During these scheduled trainings, residents can expect to see several fire vehicles in the area. The public is reminded that these are only training exercises and not emergency events. Motorists passing through should keep traffic moving as usual, and individuals are asked to call 911 only in life-threatening emergencies.
The upcoming training dates include April 27, May 4, May 13, June 1, June 16, and July 1. These sessions support ongoing efforts by Concord Fire Department personnel to maintain readiness for technical rescues.
City of Concord operates facilities including an airport and multiple fire stations according to the official website. The city also provides services such as utility management, emergency response operations like those conducted by its fire department staff, and infrastructure maintenance according to the official website.
