CITY OF ALBEMARLE: Public Hearing On February 21st
0Comments

City of Albemarle issued the following announcement on Feb. 16.

A public hearing will be held February 21st at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting to review and adopt a proposed redistricting plan covering the City of Albemarle. Redistricting occurs after the U.S. Census to ensure voting power and representation are distributed equally, based on population. The law requires the same number of people to be in each district within a range of 5%. Per a court order in the 1980’s, one district in Albemarle should also incorporate a black majority population. The proposed redistricting map for Albemarle meets all legal requirements while making the fewest changes to districts as possible.
